Safeguarding the workplace with Acrow Formwork
As well as build quality, occupational health and safety is paramount on any construction site. At the new Telstra Data Centre site in Melbourne’s south-east, Acrow’s SuperCuplok provided a super-strong, flexible formwork support solution combined with unique, in-built safety features to protect both erectors and form workers.
Telstra Data Centre formwork contractors, Summit Formwork, use Acrow Formwork as their preferred supplier.
“It’s a relationship that works because Acrow consistently delivers high quality, innovative products, backed by our proven in-house design capabilities,” says Acrow Regional Sales and Account Manager, Laurie Hartley.
In the case of the $100 million Telstra Data Centre, Laurie says the unique features of Acrow’s SuperCuplok helped ensure the formwork support component of the build went off without a hitch.
“While the concept of formwork sounds simple, in practice it can be very complex, and also hazardous if it’s not done precisely. On top of accurate design, our team provided an on-site pre-pour inspection to ensure the formwork support had been erected as per the drawings.”
Super strong SuperCuplok
Acrow’s SuperCuplock is 40% stronger than similar modular scaffold/formwork support systems.
“Because it’s so much stronger, there is potential to expand the grid size, which lowers labour costs. In addition, SuperCuplok provides a higher degree of safety and an increased factor of rigidity compared to other similar products.”
Superior fall protection
SuperCuplok features a captive planking system, which creates a safe platform for the formwork erectors to work from as they go.
“Then, when you get to the top level, SuperCuplok is planked out so form work erectors can move onto a deck area to place their u-head jacks, LVL timbers and plywood – which in the case of the Telstra Data Centre were also supplied by Acrow.”
